This weekend we saw Radio 1’s Big Weekend take itself online and broadcast previous performances mixed with new live performances from artists. Glastonbury has looked and taken heed of this idea and have announced they will be going online. From the 25th of June until the 29th of June ‘The Glastonbury Experience‘ will be up on BBC IPlayer which will be where you can find all the performances you want to watch.
2020 was going to be a bumper year for the festival with headliners along the lines of Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift. But due to the ongoing circumstances this year’s festival had to be cancelled.
Now though, they have announced that they will be going online and streaming some classic performances from the archives. Some that will be shown include Beyonce, Adele and David Bowie.
We promised you some news didn’t we?..
Between June 25th – 29th, when the 50th anniversary of @glastonbury was due to take place, we’ll be bringing the spirit of the #Glastonbury2020 to your homes via TV, @BBCiPlayer, Radio & @BBCSounds

This will quell some fans who were disappointed that they will not be able to see their favourite acts play live this summer. It is unlikely that they will be totally fulfilled by this.
Last year the festival saw Stormzy take to the main stage in a historic performance that will no doubt go down in history. This year’s festival looked to be just as big if not even bigger with a bumper line up that featured legends of music and current stars.

This is something that a few festivals could look at doing this year due to coronavirus. But as Glastonbury is one of the biggest festivals in the world, they have many famous performances they could pick from.
Looking forward, these online festivals will only feed our appetite of wanting to see acts live. Though seeing the past performances, it reminds us just how much they mean to us and how much we should not take those times for granted when we can see them.
