Tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2025 sold out in just 35 minutes, with 180,000 general tickets snapped up. This marks another lightning-fast sellout for the iconic festival, despite new ticketing systems frustrating some users.
180,000 tickets went in the general sale, including coach packages, alongside 5,000 held back for local residents. Users entered a virtual queue based on when they joined the website, marking a change from the previous refresh-to-enter system.
The new queue-based system drew comparisons to Ticketmaster’s approach. While intended to streamline sales, it left some fans irritated after losing their place in line due to refreshing their browser or opening multiple tabs.

Tickets were priced at £373.50 with a £5 booking fee. Fans could secure tickets with a £75 deposit, while coach packages added travel costs from £47 to £162 depending on location. Prices continue to rise, with 2024 tickets costing £355 compared to just £1 at the very first incarnation of the festival in 1970.
The festival’s ticket pricing sparked renewed debate about transparency in the wake of the Oasis ticket controversy. An MP promoting the “Sale of Tickets” bill commented on the need for clearer pricing, suggesting that the online queue will be “a sight no one will see again”.

Glastonbury organisers typically reveal the full lineup in early June, though major headliners are sometimes confirmed as early as March. Those lucky enough to get a ticket will be eagerly waiting for any news regarding the lineup. No headliners have been announced yet, but fans are already speculating.
Current betting odds favour Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975, with Fred Again and Sam Fender coming in third and fourth in the odds. Fans shared their own guesses and wishlist acts across social media.

Tickets have consistently sold out in under an hour since 2015, with no sign of demand slowing down. Glastonbury is the UK’s largest music festival by far, attracting 210,000 people in 2023, compared to Wireless which had an attendance of 135,000. Glastonbury reportedly brings as much as £160 million into the South West’s economy.
Glastonbury’s economic impact extends far beyond the festival gates, benefiting local businesses and communities alike. In 2023, the festival contributed £32 million to Somerset businesses, with attendees spending an additional £1.6 million in local shops, pubs, and supermarkets. Beyond financial benefits, the festival has funded significant infrastructure improvements in Pilton, including social housing, and community facilities like the restored Tithe Barn.
Glastonbury tickets can only be resold through official channels. Each ticket includes the buyer’s photo to prevent scalping. An official resale window will open in Spring 2025, allowing those unable to attend to return their tickets for redistribution.
Organisers issued a statement thanking those who secured tickets and apologising to those who missed out, stating: “Thanks to everyone who bought one and sorry to those who missed out, on a morning when demand was much higher than supply.”
