As the festival season comes to an end and the autumn albums/subsequent tours commence, Glastonbury has announced 2018 will be their fallow year. Therefore tickets that will go on sale for 2017 on 6 October will be eagerly hounded upon. Which means fans must register beforehand to avoid the whole ticket-tout scandal that hounds popular gigs/festivals. Click here to register.
Because of bad weather which makes the ‘Glastonbury mud’ so famous, organisers have denied that the festival will move to more drier locations such as Longleat in the future, next year, or the year after, where they have confirmed a year off. A statement by the organisers clearly said, “There are no plans to hold an event at another location in 2018.”
However, as 2018 is a fallow year, the location debate will no doubt be unearthed once more as 2019 approaches – a long way off and many more festivals to attend.
For those who want to continue the festival season, head to Beach Vibes, Riviera Mayo, Mexico, 26-28 January 2017, where you will continue to follow the success of LCD Soundsystem’s return after a quite superb festival success including Coachella, Glastonbury, many USA/Canada and European festivals, including London’s Lovebox, and Ireland’s recent Electric Picnic, to name but a few. Electronic favourites Hot Chip join the extended festival season alongside LCD with guitarist, Al Doyle, sharing duties between his original Hot Chip and his recent gigantic tour with LCD Soundsystem. In fact LCD curate this festival and will be performing two nights.
Beach Vibes, in these approaching cooler months for UK, is enviously described by their website:
“Beach Vibes is an all-inclusive festival vacation hosted at the Riviera Maya on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. This four-night concert vacation is curated by LCD Soundsystem, and includes your all-inclusive tropical resort stay, three nights of live music on the beach, daytime local adventures, and pool parties soundtracked by our favorite DJs.”
A tempting getaway to round off the festival season and no mud in sight!
