Glass Animals have announced that their UK tour will be rescheduled until later this year.
Their UK tour which was meant to accompany their recent release, ‘Dreamland‘, was originally set for May but has been postponed due to COVID rules and will continue to take place after the government’s roadmap outside of Covid has been implemented. The tour, now set to take place in November this year, has also added extra performance dates of Portsmouth Guildhall and Brighton Centre.
The band took to their Instagram page to update fans on the new dates.
‘Dreamland‘ marks the band’s third studio album which was released on 7th August 2020. The band took to the stream to celebrate and connect with their fans, the band performed on a livestream event, ‘Live In The Internet‘, NME had this to say about the gig, ”We’re treated to sun-kissed visuals that see the stage transform into everything from a virtual pool to a tropical paradise, the group imaginatively pushing the boundaries of what can be done in a virtual space”.
The live stream also saw the group, in keeping with the social distance rules, collaborate with singer Arlo Parks and rapper Denzel Curry. The band are no strangers to working with other artists, in February this year the group worked together with London Grammar, who shared a remix of their single ‘Loose your Head‘ by Glass Animals.
The album was made amongst anguish, after the band’s drummer was involved in a near tragic accident when he was hit by a lorry during bicycling in Ireland on 2nd July 2018, subsequently, the band had to cancel their tour plans during this period. Originally meant to be released on 10th July 2020, the album’s release date was pushed back until last August. The album gave the band five singles, ‘Tokyo Drifting‘, ‘Your Love (Déjà Vu)‘, ‘Dreamland‘, ‘Heat Waves‘ and ‘It’s All So Incredibly Loud‘, ‘Heat Waves‘ gave the group their highest ranking single. The Oxford formed band consists of Dave Bayley (lead vocals, songwriter and producer), Joe Seaward, Ed Irwin-Singer and Drew MacFarlane, all members were childhood friends.
The band’s debut album, ‘Zaba‘, which was released 6th June 2014, brought the band into the public eye. The album’s lead single ‘Gooey’ was the band’s highest placed single until the release of ‘Heat Waves‘ on 29th June 2020. ‘Gooey‘, released 14th February 2014 saw the band perform the single on America’s late shows, ‘Late Show with Seth Meyers‘ and ‘The Late Show with David Letterman‘ thus gaining traction over the pond. The single also featured on blockbuster film ‘Magic Mike XX‘ soundtrack.
