Glass Animals are now the latest band to announce the postponement of their new material they were slated to release. In a trend that is becoming common place in 2020 it has seen many artists make the tough decision to move their album back to accommodate unforeseen issues that have arisen in the year.
‘Mirrorland’ was due to be the band’s third effort but it has now been moved back to August 7th due to the Black Lives Matter protests in America. In a statement that was released onto the bands Instagram page he explains “The fight for civil rights is so much bigger and more important than any single piece of music”. Though however frustrating this is for fans, it is very understandable for the band to decide to take this step as they do not want their music to overshadow the importance of the BLM movement.
One fan replied “ahh I’m a little bit sad but I wholeheartedly appreciate you all for being so supportive and understanding”.
It has now been four years since we have had a new album from the Oxford based band. Most recently they released ‘How to be a Human Being’ which wowed fans with the continuation of their psychedelic pop sound that finds itself crossing with indie inspired guitar riffs. All this blends together to create listening experiences that will find you engrossed in what they will have releasing next.
Though this is news that may disappoint some, the band seem to be doing the decent thing and letting the greater good come before their piece of work. It will also make the album seem more special when it is released because the fans will be able to appreciate the album much more.
