East London-based rapper Ghetts has dropped new album ‘Conflict Of Interest’ with accompanying music video ‘Crud’ where he teams up with Giggs. The 16-track album ‘Conflict Of Interest’ is Ghetts’ third album and features powerful collaborations with artists including Skepta, Ed Sheeran and Stormzy. Singles from the album such as ‘Proud Family’, ‘Mozambique’ and ‘IC3′ were released at the end of last year, getting fans excited for the drop of the new album.
In an interview with Dummy Mag, Ghetts talked about his inspirations for the album: ‘“I wanted to show people that as humans we’re just very complex individuals. It’s not just my story that I’m telling about being conflicted – as humans, we’re conflicted. I just happen to be able to tap in and record some of these emotions. Sometimes I feel happy, I feel joy, I’m happy that I’m making my family proud. And then there’s other days where I feel like, ‘No mercy, man!’ I used to fight with it a lot.”
In an interview with NME, Ghetts talked about what it was like working with Ed Sheeran for ‘10,000 Tears’, 9th track on ‘Conflict Of Interest’. The two have previously worked together for ‘Drown Me Out’, a song in Ed Sheeran’s latest album ‘No.5 Collaborations Project’. Ghetts praised Ed Sheeran, saying: “Out of all the people on the album he was the one who turned his verse around the quickest. I really wasn’t expecting much, but then he hit me back and said he’d found a studio in Japan, during his break. He’s the busiest guy in the world yet he still made time to do that for me.”
Ghetts has also released a new music video ‘Crud’ featuring Giggs, one of the tracks from ‘Conflict Of Interest’. It is part of GRM Daily’s ‘Daily Duppy’ series and features animation by Ruff Mercy showing the two rapping into the camera. Various pop culture references can be heard in their verses, from ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘X-Men’ to ‘Star Wars’.
