The UK indie rockers have unveiled a slightly disturbing video for latest single Evil Eye, one that could possibly be a little bit too much for a Monday morning.
Taken from their fourth album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions which was released earlier in late August, the video was inspired by classic horror films and an apparent love for all things blood and gore. It features an eye ball hanging out it’s socket, plenty of maggots and quite a few open wounds. It does however include a rather good moustache, sported by the frontman of Franz Ferdinand, Alex Kapranos. The video was directed by Diane Martel, who has already incited controversy this year with her video for Robin Thicke’s chart stomper Blurred Lines, and in Kapranos’ own words is “a gruesome blood orgy eye stab death romp wide-oh creep necro fest, play this on the telly if you dare you fuckers”. I personally think he got his wish, and I doubt that you’ll be seeing this getting regular airtime on MTV.
In further Franz Ferdinand news, they have announced a European tour for March of next year. It includes visits to Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy, as well as a string of shows in the UK and Ireland. Everyone who has seen Franz Ferdinand live will know what to expect, an evening full of hits and enough sing a longs to ensure that you leave with your throat feeling coarse. Tickets go on sale this Friday (13th) at 9am, so be on the ball this freaky Friday. Tour dates are below.
