Foals have taken to their website and social media platforms to announce their rescheduled UK tour dates for 2021 and 2022. It is the Oxford-based group’s third attempt at rescheduling tour dates since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, but they have remarked that it will be “third time lucky”.
The group wrote on their website, “First off we hope everyone is doing OK – not long now until better times. Unfortunately the Covid restrictions in place for the coming months will mean that we can’t go on tour this May as scheduled. HOWEVER, we are delighted to tell you that we’ve been able to re-schedule the tour to April/May 2022. This definitely feels like a case of third time lucky!”
They continued, “Regarding the shows at London’s Olympia there’s an added complication. The venue has had its capacity reduced due to new building works on site and the only way we can make the shows work is for the planned three concerts to become four: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Friday being the extra date.”
The band have pushed back their respective Swansea and Cardiff performances to August 12th and 14th 2021. They will then return to the stage in Spring 2022 with twelve further dates, beginning at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on April 20th and ending at Leeds’ Millennium Square on July 8th.
However, before Foals return to the British stage, they are scheduled to perform in a number of European cities. Most of these dates and locations have not changed since the initial announcement of a 2021 UK/EU Tour back in May 2020; for example, they will still play Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Zurich on four consecutive nights this year from May 12th to 16th. Nonetheless, they have now added dates across Eastern Europe throughout the second half of May 2021, before the start of a highly anticipated festival season in the summer. Thus far, the only domestic festival that they are scheduled to play at this summer is TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow, although there is plenty of time for that to change.
Whilst this busy schedule will undoubtedly satiate the appetite of the fans who are desperate to see Foals perform live once again, there will still be pressure on the indie group to release a new album in the coming year. Their most recent LP ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part II’ was released in October 2019 and landed the band their first UK number one album. Since then, the only project that they have released was their ‘Collected Reworks’ in October 2020, an electronica remix album including some of the group’s most popular hits. With that in mind, the group will surely give the fans new material to sing along to for this forthcoming UK tour.
