In an unfortunate turn of events, Black Sabbath have announced that their eagerly anticipated final album will not be happening after all. This new album was set to be their 19th overall and a follow up to their successful 2013 release ’13’.
Despite lead singer Ozzy Osbourne initially saying just a year ago (when speaking to Metal Hammer) that:
“We’ll get on to it next year,” adding that he would “fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to.”
Ozzy has now seemingly changed his mind, saying that their current world tour (deemed The End) will be the final official collaboration between the band members.
Ozzy had this to say on the matter when speaking to NOLA.com:
“In December, I’ll be fuckin’ 68 and I think it’s time to call it the end of the day. I’m not saying I won’t get on stage with Geezer [Butler] or Tony [Iommi] or any of them some time, but officially we’re going to be done.”
“I don’t want it to dwindle and dwindle and play just for the sake of making another fuckin’ sack full of cash. So it’s time, and then I’ll go back to doing my own thing.”
