Synth-pop band Fickle Friends have released their latest single today – their fourth of the year, titled ’92’. The track is described by the band as “chilled”, with its sweet sentiment and electronic sound, and told fans via Twitter that they hope someone will use it as their wedding song. With the simple repeating chorus line, “It’s you”, it would be the perfect occasion for the song.
Our dream is for someone to have 92 as either their first dance….OR….the walk down the aisle song. WHOS GUNNA NAB IT FIRST?????

Lead vocalist Natti Shiner said in a press release that, “The premise of 92 is so innocent…love without boundaries or questioning.” The release described ’92’ as “cinematic electro-pop” which, at first, is “pure romance but the reality is bittersweet.” It explained that Shiner “started the year in a blossoming relationship that fell apart during lockdown.”
In their music video, the band share home videos from their childhood, inspired by the song title – ’92’ - the year she was born. With over 1,000 views in one day, the video is resonating with followers. Shiner commented, “I think it represents that unblemished love you have as a child, everything just gets a bit messier and complicated as you grow up.”
The new single is from Fickle Friends’ upcoming EP ‘Weird Years (Season 1)’, due for release on 15th January 2021. Previous singles ‘Pretty Great’, ‘Eats Me Up’, and ‘What a Time’ will be included on the collection. Each song was produced by the band themselves, as they work to become more self-sufficient during lockdown and into their future career.
Their team have revealed a few details of the record: “Honesty is a big part of what makes ‘Weird Years (Season 1)’ such an engaging experience. The EP is a snapshot of the last three years of the band’s lives, with autobiographical and immensely relatable tales of anxiety and heartbreak.”
