Coldplay have had a new project in the works, with legendary pop songwriter Max Martin, that they plan to release on 7 May. The pop rock group, now known for having their own alphabet, directed fans to decipher the news of a new song and its release date before confirming officially on Twitter. In the days leading up to that release, the band is giving fans a preview of the song exclusively on TikTok for just 24 hours. It can be used as the background music for video content created on the social media app.

The song is not yet available anywhere else, and will not be available on TikTok once the day is done until its official release this Friday. According to The Sun, this is just the tip of the iceberg, as the ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ musicians have hinted at a potential album following soon. The expected album title Music of the Spheres was referenced in the book that came with the vinyl release of their most recent studio album Everyday Life (2019), as well as the phrase: “Coldplay, coming soon.” Now, it seems that the anticipated album title was also officially trademarked on 16 April.
The British group have had a lot of things in the works recently, revealing this release via a new project called AlienRadio.fm. On the website, one can find many messages to translate from the Coldplay-created language, as well as frequencies to tune into like a radio, in various languages. They also have an upcoming performance at the Glastonbury Festival Live at Worthy Farm, which will have a global livestream on 22 May (with encore streams the following day).
