Lady Gaga is rumoured to release her fourth studio album this year which will include the likes of iconic English singer and songwriter Elton John (via popcrush) . The pair have a strong relationship both when it comes to music and to their personal lives as Gaga is the godmother to Elton John’s children. In an appearance to promote his 33rd studio album on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Beats 1 radio show, he mentioned how aside from his own music, he is working in the studio with his longtime friend Lady Gaga and hinted at what the songs will sound like. He stated:
I’m writing with Gaga tomorrow. She’s doing a new record. I’ve heard two songs, which are killer. They’re just great songs, it’s like back to the early stuff of hers – like ‘You and I’ and the Bruce Springsteen one (as I always call it), ‘Bad Romance’.
He compared her new music to Carole King’s 1971 album ‘Tapestry’, however, despite their close relationship, Elton didn’t hold back when asked about her last studio album. “She made some bad career decisions,” he admits. “ARTPOP was not a good idea. It was not a good album. I think she will admit that.” Hence his excitement to get into the studio and work on material with Gaga that reflects her older (but gold-er) material.
John and Gaga have only previously written together for film and TV projects such as a song on the Gnomeo & Juliet soundtrack and one on a Muppets Thanksgiving special, so venturing into actual studio work for an album together is new territory for the pair.
2015 was a successful, amazing and albeit different year for Gaga compared to previous years as she toured and did an album with legendary singer Tony Bennett, sang a Julie Andrews tribute at the Oscars which was adored by people worldwide and moved up in the acting industry with her iconic role on American Horror Story.
Gaga recently stated that her time on American Horror story has helped her get ready to release new music, stating that: “focusing her energy on acting allowed her to approach music with added clarity”. Hopefully this means new and exciting things for Gaga as we await the release of her new album that is rumoured to be released late 2016.
