NME reports that Ed Sheeran has made his return to social media websites to tease his fans about his upcoming album. This follows the singer’s return from a year-long absence from sites like Twitter, which he took for both personal reasons, and to focus on his hotly anticipated third LP.
Sheeran said at the time that he would be using the break to “travel the world and see everything I missed”, due to his “seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes.”The initial return was supposed to be in autumn, but Sheeran cited extra focus on the new album to be his reasoning for the delay.

As the video shows, fans can now expect new music from the singer to land this Friday, in what will surely be the first steps on the road to Sheeran’s third album’s release. Sheeran’s announcement will surely add to the large amount of speculation about tour and festival dates, dating as far back as October last year, when betting was suspended on the singer headlining this year’s Glastonbury festival.
At the time, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said in a statement that “It looks like Ed’s cameo in the latest Bridget Jones film was the clue all along. Punters have piled into his odds at a rate of knots and we’re left with no option but to close the betting for the time being.” Sheeran would join Radiohead amongst the already confirmed headliners to be heading to Worthy Farm this summer, but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
Speaking to NME, festival runner Emily Eavis was excited about this year’s prospects, citing that Glastonbury’s full line-up was “90% booked” and that the festival would be “cramming in two year’s worth of music” to June’s festival, with there being an enforced break to the festival in 2018.
