Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he’s already recorded his part for Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ as she is set to release a new version of the album later this year.
Sheeran recently appeared on the chart radio show The Official Big Top 40 and was asked whether he had plans to rework any of his verses on ‘Everything Has Changed’ ahead of the album’s release. To which he replied “I’ve already recorded it,” adding that “Taylor’s got a few surprises in store for you.”

The musician previously collaborated with Swift on the same ballad ‘Everything Has Changed’ from the 2012 album, which will be fully re-recorded as part of Swift’s ambitious plan to re-record her first six studio albums so as to regain the copyright of her music. This was after the music manager Scooter Braun and his media holding company, Ithaca Holdings LLC, acquired Swift’s old label, Big Machine Label Group, in June 2019. The album will be called ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ and is set for release November 19. Earlier this year, Swift shared the news on NME of her plans to re-record the album stating that it would “be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go” on the original album. It also looks set to feature an infamous 10-minute version of a fan-favourite track ‘All Too Well’, which Swift first confirmed last year. This is what she had to say about the process.
“I’m having a really good time… it’s a really amazing, fun adventure. So far, of the ones I’ve recorded, I think it’s been the most fun doing ‘Love Story’ because the older music, my voice was so teenaged and I sometimes, when I hear my older music and my older young teenage voice, it makes me feel like I’m a different singer now.”
The singer has already released her first re-recorded album ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’, which came out in April. It would appear that the albums are being released in no particular order as ‘Fearless’ was her second record and ‘Red’ her fourth so it will be another surprise when she reveals which album is coming next.
