Leicester-based band Easy Life have shared two new tracks today, ‘peanut butter‘ and ‘petty crime‘, compiled in their latest demo release ‘see you later maybe never‘. Following the January release of their pop/poetic sepia-tinged demo ‘Junk Food‘ – which Clash Music likened to the album’s “lip-smacking” title, “giv[ing] you a craving for more” – anticipation is high for the band’s latest drop.
Performed in a music video showing all five band members jamming out in their rooms, sharing the screen within a five-tiled video call, ‘peanut butter‘ is a bouncing burst of aural sunshine to bring light to any soul trapped in lockdown.
Their other new release, ‘petty crime‘, is a similar breeze of happy soundwaves complete with a bewitching line of high-pitched backing vocals, presented in a YouTube launch video displaying a desktop screen of the two new tracks in a sound editing programme. The new cover has been featured on @easylife’s Instagram story today, presenting a screenshot with the sarcastic caption: “can’t wait for our new artwork to win design awards.”
Featuring a wide array of shots of the band performing, messing about, or posing for some very cool promotional stills, Easy Life’s official Instagram account currently has 107,000 followers – a figure sure to expand in the coming weeks, as listeners turn to their joy-infused beats to ride out the isolation blues.
Easy Life’s public profile received a huge push when it won 2nd place in the BBC’s Sound of 2020 review, praised for being “hard to pin down but easy to love, with their headily optimistic blend” of multiple diverse genres. Such is the buzz surrounding this latest demo, there is even a range of wearable merch for the band’s growing, dedicated following, including lighters and t-shirts.
