Dua Lipa has teased details of her next album at the start of a ‘new era’, with suggestion that the album could be out sooner very soon. Since her 2017 self titled debut, which was met with critical acclaim, very little has been revealed about the follow up from Lipa. A post uploaded onto her Twitter account yesterday provided her loyally patient fanbase the first indications of new music in the works, with the caption reading, “A new era! Thank you for your patience. See you soon. #DL2”
What she has revealed in the past about the new album indicates that the next LP will be “more mature” and “more conceptual” and could lean toward influences in disco.
In an interview with British Vogue, Lipa said. “I’m currently in LA finishing off songs and I’m really excited. I’m so bloody nervous (laughs). With the first record, there were no expectations, but now there’s a lot more pressure. Everyone talks about how difficult the crazy second record is, but in terms of writing it’s been way easier. I feel like I really know myself a lot better. I know what I want to write about, I know how to express my feelings. I know how to talk about things and to allow myself to be vulnerable.”

She discussed how artists such as No Doubt, Prince and Outkast served as inspirations for the follow up record. “It sounds like such a crazy clash of styles, but that’s just how I like to do things. Juxtaposition has always been a common factor in everything I do. It’s very ‘me’.”
In the four star NME review of ‘Dua Lipa’, from 2017, writer Jamie Milton remarked that the Kosovo born singer-songwriter is the “real deal”, saying, “But it’s equally impressive to hear how confidently the debut holds itself together, flitting between styles but always shining a spotlight on a legitimate pop sensation. She’s the real deal.”
