Today Dua Lipa released the new single Fever, which will feature as a new song on the reissue of her album Future Nostalgia. The track is a collaboration with the French speaking pop-star, Angèle. This will be the first break-out into an English-speaking audience for the Belgian artist.
The new song consists of competing verses, Lipa’s in English and Angèle’s in French, giving this club-track an eclectic European sound. The two artists share a similar genre and style which only adds to the expertise of this sensual new collaboration, despite the language barrier.
Angèle’s newest single Tout Oublier rocketed her up the charts, breaking the record at 9 weeks sitting as #1 on the French-speaking Ultratop charts. She found fame in 2017 when her single La Loi de Murphy earned her millions of hits on YouTube, leading her to eventually become 2018’s biggest breakout act for Belgian/French pop.
Both Angèle and Dua Lipa performed at One-World, the global broadcast and digital special, in April 2020. The event was hosted by Lady Gaga and was to benefit healthcare workers and WHO during the Covid-19 global pandemic. This was the largest international stage Angèle had yet to perform on.
Dua Lipa released a remixed version of Future Nostalgia in August called Club Future Nostalgia, featuring artists such as Madonna, Mark Ronson, Stevie Nicks and Missy Elliot. The new track with Angèle however will be featured as a new song on the original album, as a bonus add on. Speculation of a ‘side b’ to the original album has been teased by Dua Lipa but not yet confirmed.
Studio 2054 was announced this week as Lipa’s livestream show to air on November 27th, which will feature many surprise artists and performances spanning the genres and arts. The show will feature songs off both her originally released Future Nostalgia and the new remixed version, Club Future Nostalgia. Tickets are on sale now.
This announcement and the new single Fever follow the postponement of Lipa’s 2021 tour, changing it from January to September due to safety concerns surrounding the on-going global Covid-19 pandemic. Angèle does not currently have any UK or Ireland performances scheduled as of today, however, her Belgium and France tour dates are still scheduled to begin in June of 2021.
