Dua Lipa has recently announced the title of the sophomore album, which is called Future Nostalgia, on her social media. The album is previously introduced with a disco-influenced single “Don’t Start Now” released back in last Halloween.
The mega pop star Dua Lipa has continued to tease her musical comeback. Last October, the singer released “Don’t Start Now” as the first single off her second studio album. The track has received a lot of attention from its nostalgic disco sound, and many critics also praise Lipa’s vocal progress.
Regarding the track, the pop Londoner spoke with Metro.co.uk and said that “Don’t Start Now” would be “reflective” of her new direction for the second record:
“It’s very disco-orientated. I guess I got a lot of inspiration from ‘Electricity’ and ‘One Kiss'; it felt like the natural progression,” said Lipa. “Electricity” and “One Kiss” are Lipa’s first two attempts on disco music, both of which rose to the top five of UK Singles Chart.
The 24-year-old pop star has unstoppably promoted “Don’t Start Now” throughout many music award shows, including one at the 2019 MTV EMAs that was acclaimed for her confident and creative performance. Now, Lipa has finally revealed the title of the upcoming record which is named Future Nostalgia. The title gives a nod to how the album’s direction will be heading to a golden sound of 70s music, disco. She shared with Metro that “[the album]’s quite nostalgic and disco elements but I wanted it to sound fresh, new and still current but I’m experimenting and having fun.”
The announcement of the title was done on Lipa’s social media. The post features the singer flaunting the title Future Nostalgia tattooed on her arm.
