According to an article on NME, n October 26th, the former guitarist of the well renowned English rock band Oasis joined U2 on stage at the 02 Arena where they performed U2’s hit “I still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” followed by a cover of The Beatles “All You Need Is Love”. The musician was spotted on the tube making his way to the O2 Arena gig earlier this week. Gallagher surprised the crowd with a spectacular show-finisher as he joined the Dublin-Formed band at the end of their two hour long show, showcasing his talented acoustic guitar skills along with backing vocals. Introduced to the stage by Bono who announced “I’d like to bring out of one my heroes, one of the band’s heroes to help us out with this next song. Will you welcome to the stage the high flying bird himself Noel Gallagher,” Gallagher brought an uproar to the U2 fans who weren’t expecting this combo to take place.
In an interview with Audioboom, the Oasis guitarist said: “It was a dream come true to be asked to get up [on stage] with them and then it was a dream come true to be asked to sing that song [‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’].”
He also mentioned the history he has with U2: “They’re friends of mine. I’ve been friends with Bono for about 20 years. It was a great moment. I was stood in the wings and they were introducing me and I was thinking ‘This is actually going to happen now, this is amazing’. They are one of my favourite ever, ever bands and that’s one of the best songs ever written. It was a blast, a real honour.”
