Drake has unveiled his new single, ‘Behind Barz’, a track lifted from the soundtrack of the now streaming ‘Top Boy’ crime drama on Netflix. This comes very soon after the Canadian rapper’s record label released a 17 track soundtrack from the third series of the hit drama, on September 11. ‘Top Boy’ stars Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson as their respective characters Dushane and Sully.
Other tracks from the line up include ‘Venom’, a collaboration with Little Simz, ‘Professor X’ and ‘God’s Eye’ with Dave and ‘Listen’ with Ghettz’, to name some.
Drake has been credited as being a part of the revival to the show which had initially been axed by Channel 4 after the second series, and is now streaming on Netflix, launched on September 13. Drake appeared at the series three premiere in London last week in Hackney, alongside stars Ashley Walters, Little Simz and Michael Ward, new additions to the cast of the show.
Ashley Walters returns to the lead role of Dushane, as he aims to take back his place as a drug kingpin on the Summerhouse Estate, with a teasing preview from Netflix saying, “He teams up with Sully, his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end”.
It adds, “Awaiting them both is Jamie (Micheal Ward), the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.”
