Fans can expect to see the three previously announced headliners, KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro as well as Deftones, Korn, The Pretty Reckless and Rise Against on the main stage. On second stage, there will be Megadeth, Steel Panther, The Distillers, The Darkness and Skillet. The Avalanche stage will host the likes of The Ghost Inside, Funeral for a Friends and Descendents. And lastly, the Dogtooth stage will feature groups such as Electric Wizard, Sepultura and Blues Pills.
On 1st March, Download Festival announced their cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic and confirmed the headliners for next year, who are the same headliners who were booked for the 2019 lineup, except that System Of A Down has been replaced with Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson, the frontman of Iron Maiden, previously stated: “Like everyone, we were all hugely disappointed when the global pandemic forced the cancellation of Download 2020 which would have been Maiden’s seventh time headlining here. So we are delighted to be invited back and fulfil our ambition of playing Donington Park in every decade since the 1980’s!”
Download is not the only festival to have been cancelled this year. 2000trees, Glastonbury and The Great Escape festival have all been postponed to next year, with some of them holding virtual events for fans. However, other festivals such as Wireless, Latitude, Reading and Leeds have been scheduled to go ahead.
