The second line-up announcement has been made for Britain’s biggest rock festival, Download Festival. The festival will be returning to Donington Park, in Leicestershire in June 2019, with the event set to take place between the 14th and 16th of June 2019. Tickets can be purchased here.
Download Festival organisers have revealed the second wave of artists. They announced that joining headliners Tool, Slipknot and Deaf Leopards will be Slayer, The Smashing Pumpkins, Dream Theater, Lamb of God, Eagles Of Death Metal, and many more. Metal royalty, Slayer are set to be making their final UK appearance at Download 2019 after 37 years, whilst The Smashing Pumpkins will be making their Download festival debut.
Also announced to be playing the festival in 2019 are Alien Weaponry, Anthrax, Badflower, Black Futures, Blackberry Smoke, Dream Theater, Eagles Of Death Metal, I Prevail, The Interrupters, Jinjer, Lamb Of God, Man With A Mission, nothing,nowhere. Our Last Night, Riding The Low, Royal Republic, State Champs. Underside. Whitechapel, Yours Truly, and Zebrahead, with more still to be announced.
The first series of line-up announcements have been made, which confirmed that classic rock powerhouse Def Leppard, Slipknot and Tool will all be headlining the event. If that isn’t enough seventeen more acts have also been confirmed, which includes Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators; Whitesnake; Rob Zombie; TRIVIUM; Amon Amarth; Carcass; Delain; Die Antwoord; Me First and The Gimme Gimmes; Opeth; Power Trip; Reel Big Fish; Skindred; Starset; Tesla; The Amity Affliction and Underoath.
According to NME, festival head Andy Copping said: ‘We’re incredibly excited to announce three legends as Download 2019 headliners. It’s not quite been 10,000 Days since we have been able to indulge in one of our favourite alt-rock bands, but after thirteen years I am thrilled to announce Tool are finally making their long-awaited return to Download.
“Renowned for being one of the best live bands on the planet due to their one-of-a-kind performances, Slipknot are an incredible addition to the main stage. Last but not least, I am honoured to welcome true Rock N’ Roll legends Def Leppard to Download who bring with them a UK exclusive chance to see Hysteria played in full.”
In what will be the Sheffield bands only UK appearance of 2019, the legends will be playing their seminal album ‘Hysteria’ in full and more. Def Leppard front man Joe Elliott has said: “We are delighted to be going back to headline Download in 2019! The festival has a very special place in our hearts and it’s such a great place to play. We will be playing Hysteria in full – yes, in full! – plus a load more of the hits, and we are going to put on a very special show for our UK fans. Can’t wait to see you all there!”
Download Festival, is a British rock festival, which has been held annually at Donington Park in Leicestershire, since 2003. It has since grown and now also takes place in Paris, France, since 2016 and Parramatta Park, in Sydney, and Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia, since 2017. It is the most popular British summer rock and heavy metal festival and has hosted some of the genre’s biggest names, including Saxon, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Korn, Motörhead, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Kiss, Judas Priest, Status Quo, Mötley Crüe, Journey, ZZ Top, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Faith No More and Guns N’ Roses.
