British singer-songwriter Dodie has announced a UK tour in support of her upcoming album release ‘Build A Problem,’ commencing in September 2021. The album is due to be released in March 2021 and can be pre-saved on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music now. Dodie’s website also features a number of merch bundles available for pre-orders which include LP copies of the album, CDs, Cassettes and T-shirts.
In advance of the album, Dodie has a released a single ‘Cool Girl,’ which has recieved 219,519 views on Youtube since its lyric video premiered last week. The singer, who’s substantial online fanbase includes 1.94 million Youtube subscribers, will be appearing some the UK’s biggest cities including London, Manchester and Birmingham. While some of these cities are currently under the toughest tier 3 coronavirus restrictions, her fans will be hoping that by September next year their venues will be open once again.
According to The Metro, Dodie says that she was ‘going through a crisis,’ when she wrote ‘Build A Problem,’ and that ‘intimacy,’ is her main reason for writing. The Essex-born singer has released three EP’s, including 2016’s ‘Intertwined,’ which featured the breakout hit ‘Sick of Loosing Soulmates,’ a song which has been viewed over 11 million times on Youtube. Despite a prolific streak of EP’s, fans have been waiting a long time for Dodie’s debut full length album and so be looking forward to the March 5th release date eagerly.
The news of a tour in support of the album was announced by the singer on her Instagram page three days ago and received an overwhelmingly positive response, the post has been liked over 62 thousand times since then and the comment section is full of excitement from and frustration for her overseas fans who may have to wait a little while longer. There are still no guarantees when it comes to live music as to whether a tour will really possible next year but there is widespread hope amongst her fans.
Dodie has been seeing an increasingly good chart performance with each of her EP releases, with her last EP ‘Humans,’ reaching number 5 in the UK album charts. According to Jammerzine ‘The Human EP follows two self-released EPs, 2016’s Intertwined and [2018’s] You . Both EPs reached the top 40 of the UK official album charts’. Clearly Dodie is no stranger to album chart success, and with her first full length effort now becoming available, she may well have a shot at reaching number one.
Writing on her Instagram, Dodie states about the 2021 dates that ‘this will be the first tour in 2 years,’ and promises to ‘go wild,’ and ‘stage dive every night.’ Full dates for Dodie’s 2021 UK tour in support of her debut album ‘Build A Problem,’ are as follows:
