Disclosure released a brand new single ‘Birthday‘ off their upcoming third studio album Energy due this Friday (28 August) via Island Records. The track features guest vocals from R&B star Kehlani, and Syd from the California band The Internet.
The new track followed the announcement that Disclosure will build a custom Minecraft world to accompany the release of their new album. ‘Birthday‘ is the sixth single off their highly anticipated record after ‘Know Your Worth‘, ‘Ecstasy‘, ‘Energy‘, ‘My High‘ and ‘Doucha (Mali Mali)‘ all came earlier this year.
‘Birthday‘ follows Disclosure’s venture into R&B territory set in their previous album Caracal. In an interview for NME brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence confirmed this was one of the oldest tracks to feature on the album, and that the addition of Kehlani “just took it to the next level and turned into a fire duel.”
In a surprising release, the electronic duo added a more upbeat and housy VIP Remix of the track which will probably be featured on the extended CD of the deluxe edition. Video for the track is also expected along with the official album release on Friday.

Energy is set to come out after almost five full year since their last LP Caracal’s release in September 2015. In February this year Disclosure dropped the EP Ecstasy which featured the other 5 singles mentioned above that are all included in the new album.
The published tracklist sees an impressive selection of guest vocalists including rappers Common, Amine and Mick Jenkins, R&B and pop stars Kelis and Khalid, Malian songwriter Foutumata Diawara, Cameroonian singer Blick Bassy and Nigerian afro-beat act Etran Finatawa.
The Lawrence brothers first started working on music together back in 2010 after developing a strong interest in house, garage and hip hop. They achieved international fame with their debut album Settle released in 2013 by PMR Record and Island Records. The album is certified as Platium in the UK.
The follow-up Caracal from 2015 peaked at #1 in the UK Albums and Dance Albums Charts. The band also received international acclaim with #1 at the US Top Dance/Electronic Chart and #2 at the Australian Albums Chart. The record also earned them a prestigious nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
As with previous releases, all tracks from Energy are written and produced exclusively by Disclosure.
