British artist Deno has released his highly anticipated debut album ‘Boy Meets World.’ After teasing tracks from his latest album over recent months, and yesterday dropping his music video for ‘Drizzy’ with GRM Daily, the singer, songwriter and rapper has finally released his first studio album.
Announcing the release on Instagram, the Brixton born artist wrote: “My mixtape ‘Boy Meets World’ is finally out now put so much hard work n effort into this.. they’ll never see the process of the sleepless nights, stress and ups and downs, just the rewards.. even if you don’t listen to my music like that you should defo give this one a listen, straight bangers and truth run it up for me.”
The album comprises 14 genre-bending tracks and features several big names in the music and entertainment industry. Including, Unknown T, Craig David, Chunks and Cadet. Mixing Afrobeats, Pop and Drill, the 18-year-old has flexed his musical versatility on his latest mixtape, which has come just two years after his debut EP ‘Eye 2 Eye.’
Speaking on his debut album with GRM Daily, Deno said: “I feel like this one here’s gonna be my breakthrough – it’s not an album but it basically is an album because of the amount of effort I’ve put into this. It’s got 14 tracks, good solid features on there, I feel like people are gonna actually understand and listen to this one and just take it in because I feel like it deserves to be heard. “
He continued: “When we started making it, we were just doing the fun kinda bouncy songs, but then with life, different obstacles happen and I wanted it to be as raw as possible so I just wanted to talk my truth, just explain stories and just make it interesting and out of the ordinary and I feel like you get a lot of sides of me in the project; you’ve got the fun sides, the deeper sides where I’m talking about like life in general, good times, bad times, losses and all of that. I feel like it’s all gonna come together in this mixtape. I just feel like people are really gonna like this one.”
Deno became hot on the scene back in 2016, after a friend videoed him free-styling after school. The ‘Playground Freestyle’ was snapped up by social media titan ImJustbait and the video quickly amassed thousands of views. He later linked up with the late grime icon Cadet on the set of ‘Shiro’s Story Part 3′ in 2018. The pair reached over 30 million views on YouTube and reached number 14 in the UK charts, with their collaboration on the track ‘Advice.’
There has yet to be any announcements from the artist on whether fans can be expecting any forthcoming live performances; however, he revealed in a recent interview that he is “ready to go back on tour.”
‘Boy Meets World’ is available to buy now and the mixtape is available to listen across streaming platforms.
