Deftones announced today the release of a new collaboration with The Cure’s front-man Robert Smith. Smith remixed the Deftones’ single Teenager and released an official video on YouTube alongside the track.
Teenagers originally featured on Deftones’ album White Pony and the new Smith remix will feature on the album Black Stallion. Black Stallion is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Deftones White Pony and will feature new versions of the track-list from the original album.
Including the newly released Smith remix, Black Stallion features a host of collaborators who have similarly remixed songs from White Pony. Collaborators include Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, DJ Shadow, Clams Casino, Squarepusher, Purity Ring and many more. The new anniversary album will be released as a double album and is scheduled to arrive December 11th of this year. Deftones recently released their ninth studio album in September of this year and have been simultaneously promoting their new music along with the reworking of their old music.
Smiths iconic band The Cure just recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of their famous album Disintegration last year. Throughout the 2019 calendar year the band promoted the album all over again with multiple live performances after the success of The Cure: Anniversary 1978 2018 Live in Hyde Park show which occurred the year before.
Deftones will be playing only one live show in the UK in 2021, June 4th they will be playing Castle Donnington and tickets are currently available for order. The Cure have no scheduled tour dates currently.
The new Smith remix of Teenager is available all on streaming platforms today and the music video can be found on the Deftones official YouTube channel. Ohms is available everywhere and Black Stallion will be released next Friday, the 11th.
