Atlanta indie-rock act Deerhunter have cancelled their planned month-long tour of Europe, citing family circumstances.
The quintet were supposed to embark on a month long European tour in celebration of their fifth album, ‘Monomania’, released in May – starting in Glasgow on October 13th, and travelling around the UK, Holland, Germany, Poland Austria and France before finishing in London in early November.
In an official statement issued via the bands ATP promoters, the group specified:
“We are very disappointed to have to cancel our upcoming European tour due to unforeseen circumstances. We were very excited for these shows, but unfortunately family circumstances at home for multiple members of the band have made this unavoidable. We will reschedule as soon as possible.’
The group are also scheduled to play dates in the US this month, as well as an Australian tour in December. It is as yet unknown whether these gigs will go ahead.
Formed in 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia and named after the Deer Hunter arcade games, Deerhunter have gone on to earn a reputation as one of the most enigmatic and musically interesting groups in American indie-rock, with their work incorporating ambient punk, shoegaze and psychedelic rock.
