In a release that will end all rumours of Bowie headlining numerous festivals (Glastonbury I’m looking at you), Bowie’s booking agency has announced that the eclectic artist will no longer do any tours or festivals of any sort.
This may not come as a huge shock; as it has been over 10 years since Bowie last did a tour, however fans of Bowie will no doubt have been keeping their fingers crossed, waiting for a ‘comeback’ tour of sorts to be announced. Unfortunately it seems more likely that if you have never seen Bowie live, you never will do; at least in the manner of a tour.
Bowie’s last tour climaxed in a show at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2004.
David’s booking agent spoke at the International Festival Forum in London this past weekend, where he divulged the information that Bowie was no longer interested in taking part in tours or festivals anymore. Speaking to Music Week, he said this:
“David [Bowie] is one of the best artists I’ve ever worked with. But every time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, ‘I’m not touring’ and I say, ‘I’m not asking,’” Giddings said “He has decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again.”
However despite Bowie’s apparent rejection of tours and festivals, he is still prevalent in the music industry, having most recently released a song in the past few weeks! That song was the theme song for the upcoming TV programme ‘The Last Panthers’, listen to an excerpt from the song below:
