The station BBC Radio 4 will first air ‘Soul Music – Life on Mars’ and a repeat of ‘Archive on 4: Bowie Verbatim’ on the 9th January 2021. The following day’s broadcast will be completely dedicated to Bowie and will premiere ‘Bowie: Dancing Out In Space’, a two hour special produced by Stuart Maconie.
Set to broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 6 simultaneously, the special will focus on the “…the impact of David Bowie on their lives and how he always managed to be ahead of the curve,” and feature a number of hosts, such as Guy Garvey of ‘Elbow’ fame, and Cerys Matthews.
“We miss David Bowie. To think of the music he would have made, the words he would have written, the thoughts and ideas he would have shared with the world,” said the head of BBC Radio 6 Samantha Coy in a press release. “The broadcast of Dancing Out In Space – a programme celebrating the ultimate trailblazer – with our friends at Radio 4 will be a very special moment and testament to the legacy of an absolute icon.”
