The release date for Daniel Rossen’s upcoming album has been announced. You Belong There is set to be released on 8th April 2022. The hotly anticipated LP marks the multi-talented artist’s first solo album; Rossen is best known as the guitarist and vocalist from indie group Grizzly Bear and co-founder of Department Of Eagles. The 39-year-old musician took to Instagram to share the news with his fans.
A press release for Rossen’s upcoming release has provided the following description for the album, “The landscape surrounding You Belong There is Daniel Rossen’s sophisticated and visceral consideration of what comes after the restless enthusiasm and public fanfare of your youth. It’s a riveting 10-song reintroduction to a voice that sounds both entirely familiar and fully re-energized by the act of unfettered expression and newfound self-sovereignty. These songs explore the personally uncharted territory of adulthood, including the troubles left behind and the possibilities that wait ahead.”
Alongside the confirmation of the album’s release date, the LP’s lead single entitled “Shadow In The Frame” has also been released. The single is the first track to be released from Rossen’s upcoming album, You Belong There will be released via British independent label Warp Records. The label was formed in Sheffield and holds an impressive roster including electro pioneers Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus and legendary musician and producer Brian Eno.
Rossen’s forthcoming release will be the artist’s first solo LP and will follow the EP entitled Silent Hour/Golden Mile. The artist’s debut solo EP was released on 20th March 2012 via Warp Records and included tracks in Rossen had originally penned for Shields, Grizzly Bear’s fourth studio album. The EP consisted of five tracks and sired great critical acclaim, Pitchfork awarded the release a rating of 8 and described the EP as a “majestic song cycle full of fingerpicked notes that babble like tributaries.”
Rossen has remained a staple of indie music since the early ’00s, whilst a student in New York he formed the group Department Of Eagles with roommate Fred Nicolaus. The pair released their first EP Mo’Tussin/Whitey on the Moon in 2002, the group later released two more Eps and two LPs. The duo’s most successful release was the 2008 single “No One Does It Like You”, the track was released from their 2008 album In Ear Park.
The California born artist’s talents can also be heard within the American rock band Grizzly Bear, a group who were the forefront of the indie revival of the early 00’s and incorporated influences from folk and psychedelic music.
