Daniel Caesar is a Canadian singer-songwriter who rose to fame when he released his breakout single ‘Get You’ featuring Kali Uchis. The song gained a large number of streams on Spotify and Apple Music, which gave Daniel Caesar his own independent following. Daniel proceeded to make breakout hits and even collaborated with singer H.E.R. for the now number 1 hit ‘Best Part’.
A few days ago, Daniel released new song ‘Who Hurt You?’ with the tease of an Instagram post and a link to the song. The song has been posted on YouTube and is currently rising to 400,000 views. Daniel stated the song was inspired by him meeting a woman in a club called ‘Follies’ in Atlanta. Last week on Monday evening, Daniel gave a shout out to a “tall, blonde wig beauty” he encountered at the club. The song’s lyrics describe the woman’s features and body and what Daniel saw around him which was very vivid throughout the song’s description.
The start of the song has the similar instrumental of his previous song ‘Get You’ which goes in and out of the song as the new beat takes over the song’s direction. Daniel’s music never seems to disappoint with his smooth vocals and the soulful high and low notes present. It also features the additional vocals of singer/rapper T-Pain embedded within the chorus. Make sure to listen to the song down below.
This song marks Caesars first new material since the release of his Debut Album Freudian in 2017. We hope to hear more material from Daniel and hopefully in the next coming year a tour will be announced.
