The electronic producer Daniel Avery dropped two captivating new tracks yesterday (24th November), ‘Into The Voice Of Stillness’ and ‘Petrol Blue’. The two tracks carry on the ambient aesthetic of the artist’s latest album ‘Love+Light’ which dropped in June. While ‘Into the Voice Of Stillness’ is an alternative rendition the track of ‘Into The Arms Of Stillness’, which appears on the previously mentioned album, however, ‘Petrol Blue’ is completely unheard, radiating the same mellow mood of album it was inspired by.
Though separate tracks, the two records work harmoniously to create all-encompassing soundscape. ‘Into The Voice Of Stillness’ is soothing and subtle, using a blend of electronic sounds and samples of conversations to create it’s ethereal atmosphere On the other hand, ‘Petrol Blue’ uses hard hitting beats, and walls of synths to fully immerse the listener in its depth, creating the sense of complete solitude. When paired together, the tracks create a world that is unknown, but wholly inviting, with a feeling of calmness carrying throughout the records. Avery blames the otherworldly aura of his tracks on the cosmos that inspired them; the unknown nature of the ocean.
“Petrol Blue” was written in a studio at the very edge of the country. The views across the water without a single sight on the horizon always create a certain atmosphere in my mind, some kind of unknowing warmth. Real life seems pretty distant in those moments.” Avery stated in a recent Instagram post. “The track came about quickly, in the space of a few hours, and filled the room immediately. It’s named after my own little space down by the water that continues to be its own escape and a constant source of creativity. I owe my life to that metal box right now.”
The artist continued the interview by commenting on the other tracks meaning. “…included here is an alternative version of ‘Into The Arms Of Stillness’, the voice recounting the joy of when that first strobe light enters your soul,” He stated. “We’ll be back to that place before we know it.” Alongside the two tracks, the artists will also release a vinyl version of his ‘Love+Light’ album this week, dropping on the 27th November. The artist also plans to release a 12-inch vinyl of the two new tracks early next year, with all proceeds being donated to Amesty International.
