Sacramento, CA based rock outfit Dance Gavin Dance have announced that they will be embarking on a UK and EU tour in September of this year. The band will make seven stops in the UK before heading out for four shows in mainland Europe, stopping in Germany and the Netherlands. The announcement was made yesterday (Tuesday 1st of March) on the group’s social media.
These shows will mark Dance Gavin Dance’s first overseas tour in two years, given the limiting effects of the coronavirus pandemic, and will begin shortly after a month long North American tour with Coheed and Cambria. The ever-prolific six-piece have been teasing snippets of a new on social media as of late, with singer Tilian Pearson posting clips of himself recording vocals with longtime producer Kris Crummet. The new album also sees a new official member- guitarist and vocalist Andrew Wells- being more involved with writing and recording process, having previously been a touring member of the band, contributing occasionally to studio recordings, such as Artificial Selection (2018)’s final track “Evaporate”. You can view an in-studio preview of some new music below, posted originally by Pearson on Instagram.

Just over a year ago, Dance Gavin Dance put out their ninth full-length album Afterburner, a record that was received very warmly by critics, and saw the group experimenting a little beyond their established 2000s post-hardcore sound, venturing more into the world of funk, rap and even Latin music. The group also released the highly anticipated Tree City Sessions 2 last year, a follow-up to 2016’s Tree City Sessions. Tree City Sessions, for those new to the group, are live albums that consist of the band performing songs- often fan favourites- from previous albums.
Tree City Sessions 2 saw the group perform a wide range of music from almost every era of their career, going all the way back to their 2007 debut full-length album Downtown Battle Mountain with the well-loved tune “The Backwards Pumpkin Song”. The band also played two songs from Afterburner, as well as the fan favourite 2017 single “Summertime Gladness” and the classic song “Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most” from their 2008 self-titled album, fondly referred to by fans as Death Star due to the album artwork.
The band’s upcoming UK tour dates can be viewed down below. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (March 4th) at 10AM GMT.
