Cradle Of Filth has not released a new album, except for ‘re-mistressed’ of the version of Cruelty And The Beast (2019), since 2017’s victorian epic Cryptoriana- The Seductiveness Of Decay. Now back with Hellish Existence Is Futile, Cradle Of Filth have created one of their most apocalyptic albums to date. Suffolks black-metal icons have masterminded one of their most aggressive albums since Midian (2000), inspired by the state of 2020’s chaos. As Dani Filth, the frontman described the album to Kerrang!: “The threat of everything. The end of the world, the end of one’s life, existential dread.”. Almost 30 years behind them, Cradle Of Filth have created some of the most iconic albums in the industry, but none as bloodthirsty as this.
Since 1994’s The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh, the gothic group Cradle Of Filth has been remodelling what it means to be an extreme metal band. Their “Crawling King Choas” and “Necromantic Fantasies” stand out in the 14 track setlist, as some of Cradle Of Filth’s most powerful pieces of writing to date. With hints of havoc like that of Godspeed On The Devils Thunder (2008) and Nymphetamine (2004). It would be interesting to think what the cast of BBC’s 1998 documentary about Cradle Of Filth’s “Devilish” influence, Living With The Enemy, would say about this album.
To celebrate the release of this Existence Is Futile, Cradle Of Filth will be playing their new album on a special Halloween show. This All Hallows Eve, the 31st of October, will be dedicated to spanning mayhem across Camden’s Roundhouse. On the day that monsters come out of the shadows, alongside them will this British six-piece.
Dani described the event as: “an iconic venue, an iconic setlist, All Hallow’s Eve in London… six highly-strung extreme metal musicians. What could possibly go wrong?!“. This comes along after a line of shows across America that Cradle Of Filth has been playing on the build-up to their new album cycle, which has been a struggle with COVID- which you can read about here. This show has all the makings of an unforgettable night and is not one to be missed. Be sure to get your ticket here, before the evilest night year sells out.
