Recent comeback garage MC Craig David has hit the music scene hard with unique garage reworks of popular songs, outstanding collaborations and his latest hit ‘When The Bassline Drops’ which is set to be part of his first new album since 2010 titled ‘Following My Intuition’ (via NME).
Now Craig David has uploaded a photo of himself to his Instagram account captioned ‘BornToReDoIt @beatsbydre #FollowingMyIntuition’ referring to his iconic 2000 debut album ‘Born To Do It’ which took the UK charts by storm, reaching Number One in the UK Albums Chart upon its initial release with a total of 225,320 copies being sold in its first week alone. To this day, this record is still the fastest-selling debut album by a British male solo act.
The new artwork was released in order to promote Craig David’s cover and rework of Jack Garratt’s ‘Breathe Life’ which can be viewed at the bottom of this article.
So what’s the next step for Craig David? Recently, he has discussed plans to work on a mixtape with current rap icon Drake saying that he knows “it would be fire” and that it will come “when the time is right”.
At the Brit Awards last week, David stated to NME: “When I met him in Miami, at that point I was already saying ‘Listen, it would be natural for us to do something’. There’s so many similarities in the style and the things we do.”
The comeback star continued: “He recognised [David’s debut album] ‘Born To Do It’ as a record that was pivotal in his career and I was recognising all his mixtapes that he was doing. Drake and myself, a mix tape, I know that it would be fire. I know that fans would be like “Ooh, you did those melodies and those kind of rides”. He knows. When the time is right, it will come.”
