Circa Waves have announced a new tour for 2019, along with announcing their brand new album ‘What’s It Like Over There?’. The band will go on tour this April for dates in Oxford, Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, London and New Castle. Tickets go on sale this Friday 7th December and you can purchase them here.
The opening show will be in Oxford on the 15th of April and wrap up in New Castle on the 27th of April. The tour will be in support of their new album ‘What’s It Like Over There?’ and will be the bands third album. Frontman Kieran Shudall and guitarist Joe Falconer said they wanted to ‘start seeing themselves less in those defined roles – the drummer, the bass player – and blurring the lines a bit more’ on their new album. ‘I’m really getting into the world of let the song be the greatest song it could be, and not let the restrictions of we’re a rock band rule.’
The new album ‘What’s It Like Over There?’ will be released on the 5th of April 2019 via PIAS and will be the follow up of their last album ‘Different Creatures’ which was released in 2017. Frontman Kieran spoke about the up and coming album: ‘We didn’t want to go away for too long, the way the industry works now is so quick; there’s this constant demand. We want to be releasing music more often. We want to keep playing those big festivals, and the only way to keep doing that is by releasing new records, so we just want to stay on this high that we’re currently on.’
Circa Waves have been playing to packed out shows from America to Korea and they have no intentions of stopping anytime soon. Kieran continued ‘Putting ourselves out there as a bigger sounding band, I suppose there’s a lot more ambition in that record than there is on the first record. That was us wanting to set the tone for people going forward. We consider ourselves a future festival headliner and the only way we can do that is by releasing records that sound big. It was a bit of a statement of intent – this is what we’re going to be doing going forward. It’s songs for big venues and big festivals.’
