Scottish indie pop band Chvrches and The Cure frontman Robert Smith teased an upcoming single ‘How Not To Drown’ on their social media.
Chvrches posted a green graphic with a Lauren’s face and a series of letters on top of it. The teaser contains a note “BGU=CHV”, that helps to crack the cryptic code. Once the code is broken, the post note reads: “How Not To Drown Coming Wednesday June Second”.

Later on, the pop band posted a picture of Lauren looking at a giant image of Smith with the caption: “HTND_RS.jpg”. The Cure frontman retweeted the same image and added a picture of a bat on top of a microphone with a note: “How Not To Drown”.

Following that, he posted a distorted image of Mayberry and wrote: #CHVRCHES I WILL STOP NOW AS I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH I AM SUPPOSED TO BE GIVING AWAY… X”.

The track ‘How Not To Drown’ is out on 2nd of June and it will be Chvrches second single this year. Last month’s release ‘He Said She Said’ was their first new music in the last two years.
The last Chvrches album from 2018 ‘Love Is Dead’ peaked at No.7 in UK Charts. In an interview last year, the band confirmed that their fourth studio album is coming up this year. Asked about the forthcoming record, the band commented: “It’s definitely got the Chvrches DNA, but I don’t think that these songs could slot into any of the first three records. You want it to be like your band, but you want it to be enough of an evolution that it’s not the same thing over and over again”.
Meanwhile, Robert Smith in an interview for BBC 6 from last year confirmed that he spent 2020 on finishing off new The Cure album and also worked on his solo record. The last song on the upcoming The Cure album he described as: “10 minutes of intense doom and gloom”.
Talking about the new album, Smith told NME: “There’s no rush, is there? It’s been 12 years. It is an amazing record though and totally worth waiting for. We’re very excited by it”.
