London based musician Chris D’Lima will be releasing a brand-new single Denial, this Wednesday the 13th of January. Denial is about someone who has it all on the surface, from looks, brains, charm etc but under it all is insecure and scared of facing their own truth. Chris is known to play with genres such as Pop, Prog Rock and Hip Hop to create his own sound. In a press release, Chris described his mentality around creating songs as “Even if they don’t like it, I want them to be impressed.”
Speaking about the new track, Chris said in a statement; “This song has been on a momentous journey… It was originally written all the way back in 2013 and has taken many forms in that time. But it was after a networking event where I met my now very good friend, Djamel Cencio, where I played a version of this song which caught his ear.
“He immediately approached me and said he’d like to co-produce it. After a few sessions, we came up with a deep and dramatic sound which encapsulated the lyrical and melodic tone of the song. It is probably the most complex of my songs with regards to the production – something which was very difficult, but very fun to achieve.”
This will be Chris D’Lima’s third release following the release of the ambient yet powerful Tired in March 2020 and a cover of the Massive Attack classic Teardrop in September. Chris had planned to tour in 2020 but unfortunately couldn’t because of the ongoing global COVID-19 crisis. Before this Chris gigged in his home city of London, accumulating over 100 shows in a calendar year, sometimes performing three shows in one night.
This news comes after Chris announced he signed a SYNC licensing deal for his music. He took to Instagram to share the news saying; “Finishing the year off strong having just signed a SYNC licensing deal for my music. Hopefully you’ll be hearing my tunes on some film/adverts/TV shows soon.”
Outside of his music, Chris also has a following on TikTok where he uses his Mathematics and Statistics degree to give maths tutorials to his 66k followers, using the username: @TheFxckingMathsTutor. His videos get loads of comments from people who use his videos to help them with their school work, one commenter said; “I don’t even do maths anymore but I refuse to unfollow you. You helped me so much lamooo.” Another added; ” I passed my maths GCSE cause of you.”
