Charli XCX has shared the first track from her new project, ‘how i’m feeling now‘, with a new track titled “forever”. The single is co-produced by A.G. Cook and BJ Burton, with Charli herself as the executive producer. Hear the track from the video below.
“forever” is a perfect techno-pop track with the style of 100 gecs to enjoy in the midst of dire self-isolation time. The “Boys” singer gave out the details of this new song that she finished the song within two days with the help from Cook and Burton who are also practicing self-isolation, which is the main motif of ‘how i’m feeling now‘.
“I will always love you. I’ll love you forever, even when we’re not together.” Charli croons about how she will always stay in love with her love interest despite the fact that they both have to keep the distance away from each other, a brilliant message for this social-distancing period.
This is the first time Charli has collaborated with Burton who is known for the work with Bon Iver, BANKS, and Francis and the Lights. Meanwhile, Cook is Charli’s frequent collaborator who has helped her craft two acclaimed mixtapes—’Number 1 Angel‘ and ‘Pop 2‘ and third studio record ‘Charli‘.
Alongside the single, the “1999” hitmaker also shared three single covers for “forever” created by her favourite artists. Theses three artists are Seth Bogart (of Hunx and His Punks), Caroline Polachek, and Regards Coupables. Charli wrote a statement expressing her excitement to work with these artists, which reads:
“I’m such a fangirl of all three artists and to collaborate on artwork like this is a new experience for me. I like the idea that the visual language for this project can be interpreted by however someone feels towards the music. The music and the emotions that are generated guide the creative output and anything is possible.”

‘how i’m feeling now‘ has been shaping up to be the most ambitious and exciting project ever by Charli. The album is set to drop on May 15 (via Asylum Records), and “forever” is available for streaming now.
