Following hot on the heels of her latest single “forever“, Charli XCX has chosen the name of the next song to be released ahead of her upcoming fourth studio album, How I’m Feeling Now.
During an Instagram livestream last Friday, the “Boys” singer debuted clips from several demo mixes, revealing the working title of the first to be “claws“. With production handled by Dylan Brady (one half of bubblegum bass duo 100 gecs), Charli echoed all of our thoughts when she said she heard the beat and “was instantly like – yes, this is sick”. Having released a second clip from the demo on Twitter, Charli confirmed just before midnight yesterday that this would be her album’s next single, before asking her fans for consensus on its official title.
this is coming next but i still don’t have the official title.. the demo was called “claws”. it could also be called “i like” / “i like everything about you” troye commented that “clementines” is a good title coz of the lyrics in the 2nd verse (tweeted below). what do u think? https://t.co/AWCOolTUjd

Potential candidates riffed on the song’s hook (“i like“/”i like everything about you“), whilst “1999” collaborator Troye Sivan suggested the name “clementines“, drawing from lyrics to its second verse. After a few hours of careful deliberation, Charli announced she had settled on the original title “claws“; to which Sivan playfully replied:
Fuck u too

While we’re yet to see a full version of the track, if these tit bits are anything to go by it’s shaping up to be a doozy. How I’m Feeling Now, an album recorded entirely during the coronavirus lockdown, will be released May 15th via Asylum Records. Lead single “forever” is available to stream now.
