Chance the Rapper has been announced as the headliner of BBC Radio 1Xtra Live 2018 event, at London’s O2 in September.
Joining Chance at the event, is Pusha T and Jorja Smith, which will take place at the O2 in London on Saturday the 22nd of September.
Speaking about the event, 1Xtra’s A.Dot, said: “It’s that time again! 1Xtra are hitting the road for another unmissable night of music and I’m so glad that we’ll be bringing the show to London this year. Every single year 1Xtra Live is the party that everyone wants to be at so grab your tickets early. It’s gonna be massive.”
Tickets for the event will go on sale at 6pm on Monday the 30th of July, and will cost between £23.50 and £28, including booking fees. Ticketing information can be found here.
Doors for the event will open at 6.00pm, with the first performance set to start at 7.30pm. The event is also set to be broadcasted on BBC 1Xtra.
“I’m very excited to be performing at the O2, let’s turn it into the O4. I haven’t played London in a minute you know, I’d say I’ve got quite a few fans out there so I’m ready to get back and playing with y’all. The 1Xtra audience can expect to see the best show they’ve ever seen,” says Chance the Rapper.
Featuring on the bill, along with Chance the Rapper, Pusha T and Jorja Smith, is Chip, Ella Mai, MIST, Mr Eazi, and Yxng Bane.
Chance the Rapper is widely viewed as one of the most thrilling rappers on the scene today. His last mixtape, ‘Colouring Book’, was released in 2016 and featured on the 2018 Cardi B song ‘Best Life’.
Meanwhile, fellow performer Jorja Smith has been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, for her debut album ‘Lost & Found’.
Speaking about the event, Jorja Smith could not contain her excitement, and has told audiences to “expect some magic.”
BBC Radio 1Xtra Live is known for providing audiences with a bill packed full of current and emerging talent. Last year’s 1Xtra Live, in Manchester, was headlined by Travis Scott, Bryson Tiller, and Stefflon Don, with French Montana making a surprise appearance.
Other acts, over the years, have included Stormzy in 2015, Mary J.Blige in 2014, and Rita Ora in 2012. The first ever BBC Radio 1Xtra Live event, was in 2008, featured Craig David.
