British rising star Celeste has debuted a music video for her latest single “I Can See the Change.” Produced by FINNEAS, the tune is a preview of Celeste’s upcoming first studio record expected to drop sometime this year. Check it out below.
New critic sweetheart Celeste is back again with another soul-baring song to make us fall in love with her more, “I Can See the Change.” The song showcases the 26-year-old’s spine-chilling vocal with meaningful lyrics about hopefulness to break through all the adversity: “I can see the change / Come what may, I won’t regret today / I can see the change / Feel the pace of everything.”
“I Can See the Change” is produced by none other than the most-wanted producer at the moment FINNEAS, the five-time Grammy Awards winner and the brother of global superstar Billie Eilish. The two first met at the Brit Awards back in February, which led to a collaboration we have never thought we wanted!
Celeste told Vogue, “FINNEAS and I had a brief encounter and just said hello, but later I sent him the demo to see if he wanted to work on it. He was up for it so we just started talking over text for hours over the course of a few days until we finished.”
The BBC Sound of 2020 Winner also detailed about how the time of the single’s release has inspired a whole perspective to it. “The song was originally something quite personal to me in terms of what it was about, but it’s taken on a new life with the reinvigoration of the Black Lives Matter movement,” she said. “It’s taken on a new meaning even for me.”
The “Strange” stunner also dropped a film noir-inspired visual for “I Can See the Change” shot in quarantine with the help from her housemate. “Holly and I did everything in our living room. We had everything delivered to the front door and set up all these drapes to black out the entire apartment.”
She added, “Sophie Jones directed it on Zoom the whole time and we had a DOP [director of photography] who worked remotely and explained all the camera settings to Holly and how to adjust the lighting. She was pretty much everything rolled into one over this 12-hour shoot.”
“I Can See the Change” is a follow-up to the “Stop This Flame” excellence released back in last January. The singer also gave out some details about her debut album that she is still working on it, even though she has enough songs for the LP.
“I’m still writing for my album because I’ve been given some extra time with the pandemic. I want it to have a contemporary appeal but I’d rather sound old-fashioned than too modern,” Celeste said.
“I Can See the Change” is out now via Polydor Records. Stay tuned for more music from Celeste this year.
