Celeste performed her original song ‘A Little Love,’ at this year’s The Royal Variety Performance which was held this year as a virtual event broadcast on ITV last Tuesday. The full event can be streamed on ITV’s catchup site here and feature’s Celeste’s performance after 22 minutes. Gary Barlow also performed his song ‘Incredible,’ at the show but Celeste was by far the most original, new and exciting musical act of the night.
Since it was announced that Celeste had composed ‘A Little Love,’ the first original song to be created especially for the John Lewis and Waitrose Partnership Christmas advert, a charming animated short film helps tell the story of the song beautifully, the song has been heard in the living rooms of millions across the country and has also begun to take off as a single in its own right, as the songs used in previous years have before.
‘A Little Love,’ is currently still in the UK top 100 singles chart at number 64, with four weeks having passed since its release and the advert’ premiering on TV and on the John Lewis & Partners Youtube Channel, where it has now clocked up over four million views in just a short time. The honour of being invited to perform at The Royal Variety Performance is another milestone in an already climactic year for Celeste which just keeps taking bigger and bigger steps.
There is no doubt that this performance will lead to further valuable exposure for rising star Celeste, as well as access to a broader audience than ever, the great TV watching public and the multi-generational viewers who watch the performances each year. Since the event was made totally virtual this year, the huge numbers of people who usually attend the event in person will have been tuning in last Tuesday and seeing Celeste’s beautiful performance of the song which surely most have them will have heard by now, either on TV, on leading radio stations such as Radio One, or even through buying or streaming her own release of the song.
Celeste has also been making waves this year with a series of original single releases including ‘I’m Here,’ ‘Hear My Voice,’ ‘Stop This Flame,’ and more. ‘Stop This Flame,’ notably became ‘the new theme song for Sky Sports Premier League,’ back in September, another exciting collaboration showing Celeste’s musical abilities and songwriting talent can place her in the mainstream consciousness through a variety of means suitable for the modern age.
Celeste’s debut album, ‘Not Your Muse,’ is due to be released on ‘February 26, 2021,’ and, according to NME, ‘The 12-track collection will include Celeste’s recent single ‘A Little Love’, which soundtracks John Lewis’ 2020 Christmas advert.’ This may well be a huge selling point for new fans of Celeste which she has managed to attract through the advert, as well as performing the song this week at The Royal Variety Performance today.
