Last night we got a chance to hear the second official single from Catfish and the Bottlemen’s second album (which is set for release next month on May 27th) and the song is (as expected) ‘7’:

You’ll be able to listen to it here.
It had widely been guessed that their next single would be ‘7’ as they have performed it numerous times when touring for their new album ‘The Tide’.
The song was released last night on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 radio show along with an interview with lead singer Van McCann and guitarist Johnny Bond. In which McCann jokingly refers to ‘7’ as a song that would include:
“Slow motion sand throwing”
McCann also described the thought behind the lyrics of the song:
“It’s called 7 because I wrote it when I was seven hours behind the time difference from the person who I wrote it about”
Definitely a bit of a change from their debut album ‘The Wave’ which applauded for the throwback to proper old fashioned rock. However a slight change in music was always inevitable and it certainly doesn’t seem to be too drastic, as their other single released so far ‘Soundcheck’ has a very similar sound to their debut album:
2016 is set to be a big year for the English rock band, with their second album set to come out next month as well as widespread tour dates throughout the UK and just yesterday Catfish were announced as one of the headlining acts for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekender. (see our article on it here)
