As the Leeds based metalcore band prepare to unleash what promises to be a high flying follow up to 2019’s debut Lost Souls, Caskets have given fans a glimpse of what to expect from the new album, with “Believe.” Caskets have already shared four previously released singles, including “More Than Misery”- featuring a guest spot by The Word Alive’s Telle Smith.
Speaking about the new single and video to accompany it, frontman Matt Flood said the song is about “realising and recognising your own worth. It’s about letting go of your own toxicity in your life and making that step forward. Believe in yourself and the choices you’re making. Even if the path doesn’t seem clear right now, they’ll get you where you want to be.”
Caskets announced Reflections back in May and have hinted that the album is a result of the band approaching songwriting in a more collective way-producing a sound that has doubled down on their previous releases while still pushing the boundaries of what they are capable of. Flood said of the new album, “Reflections shows how much more we can get out of the band musically if we all put our heads together a bit more….If we can fit as much into our sound but it still sounds like us, that’s my lifelong goal with Caskets.”
If the five singles released thus far are anything to go by, it is safe to say that Caskets have certainly stepped up their abilities and will deliver a record that is certain to get the scene talking. In a genre that has seen criticisms from some commentators as being saturated with like for like bands, all with similar sonic signatures, it is difficult to stand out from the rest but Caskets are aiming to up the ante for both themselves and for the scene in which they inhabit.
If 2021’s Lost Souls laid the groundwork for what Caskets are capable of, Reflections aims to place the band in a closer trajectory to metalcore giants such as Architects or Bring Me The Horizon-bands that have seen unprecedented success within the sub-genre by extending their sound beyond the confines of metal and adding sounds and flourishes that have set them well apart from their contemporaries.
