British DJ Carl Cox announces his first album in ten years after signing with the label Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG.)
Announcing the news on Instagram, Cox wrote: “Super excited to finally be able to share this amazing news… I’ve signed with BMG for my new album. Now I have to make it!I had my first ever single out with BMG many years ago so I couldn’t be more pleased to be signed there as a recording artist. Being around the studio all year during lockdown and digging deep has, I hope, set the foundations that will make the first album something special… Oh yess! “
The iconic British DJ’s upcoming album will be his first since ‘All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor,’ which was released in 2011. There has yet to be a release date or any teasers for what may be in store for the DJ’s forthcoming album. Still, it stands to reason after a career in the business spanning over 30 years and Cox being a household name in dance, that fans are in for something special.
BMG houses some of the biggest names on the dance scene, including Fat Boy Slim, Solomun, Craig David and The Prodigy. BMG wrote in a press release on Cox’ signing: “Recording is already underway as Cox works towards his debut Live show later this year….Carl joins a roster at BMG that includes The Prodigy, Solomun, Maya Jane Coles, Wilkinson, Roísín Murphy, Craig David and others. “
Cox has been busy on the scene over the past 12 months. Announcing the official release date (19 August 2021) for his autobiography ‘Oh Yes, Oh Yes!’ last March, the book is set to reveal his journey from a humble Manchester upbringing to achieving icon status. The DJ also launched a new scholarship with Waterbear, a music college in Brighton, last week. The scholarship will support one Waterbear student with equipment, up to the cost of £15,000, with the hopes of helping their journey to secure successful careers in music. Last year the DJ also revealed his partnership with Sensorium Galaxy, a social virtual-reality programme.
Carl Cox is a globally renowned producer and DJ; he has won the Best International DJ Award three times, the Best Techno DJ Award six times, the Best Ibiza Club Night one time and has received a record 32 consecutive nominations since the awards began in 1998.
