It has been announced that Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa have collaborated on a new track entitled “Potion”, which is set to be released on 27th May 2022. Since the track’s promotion began, rumours have been circulating that “Potion” will also feature Young Thug. Harris previously worked with Young Thug on the track “Heatstroke”, taken from the DJ’s previously released album.
To tease the new release, Harris took to TikTok this week and posted a video which showed the DJ working on the upcoming track with the caption ‘How I made Potion’. The social media post also showed Lipa agreeing to lend her vocal talents to the new track. Harris asked Lipa to team up via FaceTime, she replied stating that she “definitely” wanted to work together. In the TikTok video, a snippet of the upcoming track can be heard. Within the clip, Lipa sings the following lyrics “Late night conversations, electric emotions / Sprinkled with a little bit of sex / and that’s a potion.”

The forthcoming song will follow their previous collaborative project, “One Kiss”, which was released in 2018 to widespread success and spent multiple weeks as the UK’s number one single. The track was originally released as a stand-alone single but was later included on the 2018 version of Lipa’s debut album Dua Lipa: Complete Edition. Along with chart success, the single also received various accolades including British Single of the Year at the 2019 Brit awards
Although no further information has been announced to confirm if “Potion” will be an album track, many have speculated that it will appear on Harris’ next studio album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2. The album will be the Scottish DJ’s sixth studio album and his first full release in five years, Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1 was released in 2017. The album included a host of featured artists including big names such as Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg.
Harris has previously shared new material under his alias Love Regenerator. The “Acceptable in the 80’s” artist dropped “Lonely” at the start of the year. The single is the latest instalment of music released under the stage name, Harris began to record and release music under Love Regenerator in 2020. The track also saw Harris work with Riva Starr and Sandara Maitreya and was released with an accompanying music video featuring black, blue and white graphics.
Harris and Lipa are both scheduled to perform live this year, Harris is billed to perform at this year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend. The DJ will take the Coventry stage on Saturday 28th May 2022 alongside Ed Sheeran, Aitch, AJ Tracey, Anne-Marie, Central Cee, Joel Corry and Yungblud. Lipa is presently on her Future Nostalgia world tour, the “Levitating” singer is currently on the European leg of the tour. The singer’s live schedule is also set to include various festival appearances including Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, Sziget and Roskilde.
