The last name for this year’s British Summer Time Festival at Hype Park has been finally announced, and it is no other than British legendary rock band Duran Duran. The “Reflex” hitmaker will perform at the festival on the festival’s final day of July 12. Gwen Stefani and Nile Rodgers & Chic will be joining their stages as well. Tickets for the final day entry will be up for purchase on this Friday 13th March via AXS and Festicket.
This annual festival at the heart of the capital is coming back again this July. It will expand for two weekends: July 3-5 and again 10-12. All leading headliners have all been revealed, with A-listed stars such as Post Malone, Little Mix, Kendrick Lamar, Pearl Jam, and Taylor Swift.
Duran Duran is the last artist to appear at Hype Park, scheduled to perform on the 12th of July. This coming gig for the group will mark their return to the capital in five years, and they will use this occasion to celebrate their four-decade expanding career together as an iconic band that has numerous smash hits. Their upcoming performance will also honour the release of their self-titled debut in 1981, which will reach its 40th anniversary in 2021.
Lead vocalist Simon Le Bon has spoken about the group’s comeback this July, saying: “I look at film of The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park back in ’69 and think of all the great acts who’ve performed there since.” He continued, “It really is an honour to add the name Duran Duran to that roster, and to play our music at one of the world’s greatest inner city locations at BST Hyde Park.”
Duran Duran’s last offering was 2015’s Paper Gods. The album is the group’s venture into pop territory with the helps to craft by pop producers like Mark Ronson and Nile Rodgers from Chic. The “Ordinary World” group also promised upcoming new music due to release sometime this year.
“There’s one song so far that’s a frontrunner to be the first single. It’s just so different from anything I’ve heard from us before, or actually anyone else. There’s a dance element to it. The construction of it, the melodic content, the lyrics, some of the sounds… they’re very different for us,” talks Rhodes to NME about the group working on new music. He also dropped some info on the forthcoming music that they collaborated with Swedish alt-pop Lykki Le and Mark Ronson.
The fans can now be prepared to get tickets for the group’s comeback gig, which will be online for general sale this Friday from 10AM. Meanwhile, there is also a presale for American Express cardholders, which will be up on March 10 from 10AM to 9.30AM on March 13.
