Bring Me The Horizon are heading strong for scoring a third consecutive UK Top 40 single with their latest ‘Teardrops‘. The song was premiered on 22 October as the third official track from the Sheffield giants’ upcoming EP Post Human: Survival Horror due out this Friday via Sony Music and RCA. ‘Teardops‘ currently sits comfortably at #35 in the Official UK charts after only one week and everything points to the band retaining the position before the next chart update.
Bring Me The Horizon’s powerful collaboration with Yungblud ‘Obey‘ from September peaked at #37 while its predecessor ‘Parasite Eve‘ reached the band’s second best performance at #28. The slightly more radio friendly ‘Teardrops‘ has already become their third most commercial chart entry, with only ‘Drown‘ from That’s The Spirit from 2015 breaking to #17. All three of the recent singles are set to feature in Post Human, generating a lot of hype for its upcoming premiere and sure to give it a significant boost upon its release on Friday.

While slightly toned down and more timid, ‘Teardrop‘ shares similar approach to the other singles, with central focus on synths and melodic samples underlying the groovy bass and drums sections. More than ever Bring Me The Horizon seem to have drawn inspiration from nu metal veterans Linkin Park who coincidentally (or not?) also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the seminal Hybrid Theory last week.
The track has already passed 3,5 million streams on Spotify and was premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show followed by a live interview with frontman Oli Sykes. The dark and personal video that accompanied the song’s premiere has already reached 3 million views on YouTube, all in a space of one week making it one of Bring Me The Horizon’s most popular release in their career.

The band’s upcoming EP Post Human is the first part of an ambitious four-part project that would eventually form a diverse full studio record in the near future. It will feature nine tracks in total, highlighting the already huge hits ‘Parasite Eve‘, ‘Obey (ft. Yungblud)’ and ‘Teardrops‘, alongside ‘Ludens‘ that came out in late 2019. In addition, the EP is promising exciting collaborations with the likes of Babymetal (for ‘Kingslayer‘), Nova Twins (‘1×1‘) and Amy Lee of Evenescence (‘One Day the Only Butterflies Left Will Be in Your Chest as You March Towards Your Death‘)
Bring Me The Horizon’s successful third single premiere marks a particularly exciting month for the contemporary British metalcore scene which saw While She Sleeps release their smashing new track ‘Sleeps Society‘ and Architects drop the huge ‘Animals‘ announcing new album in early 2021. The three bands have been widely praised on social media channels for keeping the scene alive in what has been a particularly difficult year for musicians and fans alike.
Moreover, the recent commercial success of Bring Me The Horizon’s can be seen as another win for the metal and alternative rock community this year following Bury Tomorrow’s Cannibal peaking at #10 on the Albums Charts and Enter Shikari scoring a phenomenal second place with Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible. Watch the video for ‘Teardrops‘ below and get ready for the EP release on Friday that is shaping to be a significant milestone in the Sheffield five-piece’s career.
