Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has revealed some details of what fans can expect from new album Post Human: NeX GEn. The Sheffield based singer described the record as unhinged and lacking any smooth edges, leaving fans guessing as to what direction the new music will take.

Last week, Bring Me the Horizon announced themselves as serious contenders for the consideration of one of the largest acts in the world with a stunning headlining Download Festival set. The headlining slot coincided with the announcement that new material was on the way, in the form of the group’s latest entry into the Post Human series.
Sykes is understandably excited about the prospect of new music from the band, as well as their new found status as world beaters. Speaking about the new record, Sykes has cited Glassjaw as an influence, although their frenzied brand of pop music will not be left behind.
Not to mean the group has completely abandoned their roots however, as Sykes acknowledges their meteoroic rise has made them fine tune and polish their sound. But the band is still a heavy rock band and Sykes wants to tap back into the roots of the group saying, “there’s no, ‘that song could be played on the radio if we don’t scream.’ It’s almost like we’re connecting to that time before Bring Me the Horizon had any prospects of being a big band. Back then, there was never anything but, ‘what do you want to make?’ So we’re trying to tap back into that.”
The album has been in the works for at least a year now, with the band wanting to perfect the songs before releasing anything to the masses. With an incredibly busy schedule, which have included festival sets at Reading and Leeds and Download, the band are now poised to unleash NeX GEn onto the world. The album will continue the concept idea spread across the first two instalments of the band’s sci fi horror-scape story-a project that played an important role in Bring Me the Horizon’s Download showcase.
Bring Me the Horizon have been slowly trickling new music to fans along the way, releasing singles “DiE4u”, “sTraNgeRs” and “LosT” over the past few months. In June, the band released yet another new single, “AmEN!” featuring guest turns by Lil Uzi Vert and Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw. It is unconfirmed whether or not these songs will make it onto NeX GEn as of yet but fans will find out soon enough-the album is set for release on 15 September.
Bring Me the Horizon will be embarking on a UK-wide tour in January of next year. Find tickets on sale 16 June, here. You can pre-order NeX GEn here.
